A newcomer to the sport, Roberts Gough has really begun to establish himself in the fast paced world of cycling. Currently holding a second category road racing license, and only 16 points away from obtaining his first, Gough has really proven himself in terms of competitions and achievements over the last couple of years. Roberts specialises in Road racing and competes is various time trialling and hill climbing events.
Robert Gough began his cycling career at ‘Johns Bikes Race Team’, based in Bath, for which he still cycles now. He is currently leading the South region road race ranking as a second cat with one hundred and forty four points. His competition techniques have bought him from 46th to 16th place in the country for the national hill climb. In the recent October hill climb challenge, held at Cheddar Gorge, he placed himself 14th, with an excellent time of 7.31.9, only 41.4 seconds behind the winner.
Robert and his team have a string of successes to their name and have ranked first in many of the competitions entered in the last couple of months, including setting a new course record at Hinton Hill, in October with an impressive time of only 1 minute 53. Prior to this he set a new course record in September at Wick HC with an astounding time of 1 minute 33.
Robert, 24, has recently taken a cut from work and is now working a four day week in order to open up time for his training. With this new found training time, he is hoping to improve his ranking, overall race times and profile.
