Thule has partnered cyclist Mick Ives and his racing team MI Thule Racing, since 1990. In this time, Mick has won a British Champion title every year and achieved a world championship six times over (2000, 2001 and twice in 2004, 2005 and 2006) and is the first man in the UK to represent their country in four individual disciplines: Road, Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Biking and Track. Mick, aged 66, is now in his 52nd racing season. He has been competing, non -stop through the summer and winter months since 1956, winning British Championships every year he has raced, which is something no other cyclist has achieved.
MI Thule Racing, like Mick, is also extremely successful, and has won more open events in the UK over the past eight years than any other UK registered cycle racing team. The 25-strong team has been running for 13 years, and unlike most cycle teams, races all year round – from cyclo-cross in the winter, to road in the summer. MI Thule Racing comprises mainly Masters (cyclists from age 40+), although the team has seen its fair share of youngsters including Nicole Cook who came 5th in the Women’s Road Race in the 2004 Olympics.
Each master in the MI Thule team is world class. From pros and ex pros to international stars, the team, lead by Mick, continually strives to achieve cycling excellence and to keep up with changes in the industry. MI Thule Racing has held the record of more than 100 race victories per season, since forming 13 years ago. Thule is proud to be its longest standing partner.
