Gloucester County Cricket Captain Chris Taylor has been hitting the ball to all corners of the field this month – making him May’s Thule Player of the month. His excellent performance saw him bat to victory against Glamorgan, and hold his nerves against Surrey.
At Sophia Gardens, Glamorgan, Gloucester displayed their best batting of the season. Taylor won the toss and then went on to play brilliantly – and at one point, looked like he might make the first double century of his career. His 185- ball innings had included 22 fours and four sixes and was his tenth first class hundred.
Later on in the month, Gloucester played Surrey in the C&G Trophy. In the face of immense pressure, Taylor managed to launch a recovery and scored 71 against the competitor team.
Peter Barker, Thule Marketing Manager who presents the award to the players every month said “The award is presented to the player who exceeds himself – and this month, Chris proved himself to be a fine captain and excellent batsman”. |
