Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is the most successful one-day side of the last 10 years. Winning seven trophies in just five years is an achievement unmatched by any other county cricket team. It is this success combined with the introduction of Twenty20 matches which has turned county cricket into a family orientated game, prompting Thule to partner with Gloucester.
Thule’s three year partnership deal with Gloucestershire CCC includes sponsorship of team shirts, the 105 Club award (for scores of over a century or five wickets), Player of the Month trophy and Champagne Moment award for the single most outstanding performance of the season. The new deal will continue Thule’s partnership with the club right up to the ground’s planned expansion into a world class cricketing venue.
“Gloucester CCC is renowned for its dedication, total focus and determination to achieve huge success,” comments Peter Barker, Thule’s UK General Manager, “this approach is synonymous with quality, reliability and success: the perfect Thule partnership. The Club has also always been good at maintaining a high profile in the country’s cricketing world and it is with great pride that Thule are by their side again for the 2008 cricket season.”
The Club boasts some of the most famous players of all time. From WG Grace – who is still the 5th highest scoring player of all time to Jack Russell who holds the world record for the most catches in a test match. Jack Russell has returned this season as Team Mentor in a role supporting Captain Jon Lewis, and will be responsible for off the pitch guidance and coaching in all playing matters.
New Zealander, Craig Spearman, holds the record for the club’s highest ever individual score, beating cricketing legend W.G Grace. Spearman was awarded the 2007 Thule Champagne Moment for his reverse sweep shot off Muttiah Muralitharan first ball at the Twenty20 Semi Final v Lancashire on 4th August 2007.

The Club has also always been good at maintaining a high profile in the country’s cricketing world for embracing change and being at the forefront of cricketing innovations. In 1856, James Lillywhite used his entrepreneurial skills to arrange for Gloucestershire CCC to play a match on Cheltenham’s College ground, sowing the seeds of the Cheltenham Cricket Festival, the longest running festival of its kind in the world. Today, Gloucester has embraced the move towards more family orientated cricket, and Twenty20 has allowed the club to grow in popularity and create enjoyment for people from all walks of life.
With its successful history and current high class team, Gloucester is in the media spotlight - from Screenings of One Day Internationals and domestic matches on both Sky TV and Channel 4, to fantastic daily regional media coverage
