Thule, the world’s largest manufacturer of car roof racks, boxes and accessories has presented Gloucestershire County Cricket Club squad member, Steve Kirby, with Thule’s Player of the Month (POTM) Award for August.
Gloucestershire’s highly competitive right-arm fast bowler put in notable performances in both forms of the game in August. In Championship cricket Kirby took 10 wickets at an average of 26.4. On the back of his one day bowling Steve was selected for the England Lions team to play South Africa and in 8 overs took 2 for 38.
Peter Barker, UK General Manager of Thule, presented Steve Kirby with his award at Craig Spearman’s benefit game against local South West cricket club Cleeve CC, who were also celebrating their 60th anniversary. Commenting on Kirby’s achievement, Peter Barker said: “Steve’s selection for the England lions proves just what a successful month he has had on the field. Thule wish Steve and the Gloucestershire team the best of luck in their last Nat West Pro40 game.”
August also saw impressive individual performances for the County Cricket Club. David Brown made a good impression to his first championship start this season when he scored 83 and 53 in the two innings against Worcestershire at Cheltenham. Hamish Marshall has played consistently well during August including 102 not out during the Middlesex Pro 40 game at Bristol. After a season disrupted by his finger injury Kadeer Ali is beginning to find good form and scored his career best championship score of 161 against Northants, he has followed this up with getting the Gladiators off to good starts in the Pro 40 with 73 against Somerset. |
