Gloucestershire Cricket Club’s skipper Jon Lewis has got off to an excellent start this season by winning the first Thule Player of the Month Award of 2006. The award is presented to the player who exceeds himself, and Thule is delighted that the fast-bowler is the first to receive it this year.
Jon’s outstanding early season form with the ball was highlighted with 7 wickets in the first innings versus Somerset match, and three in the second, bringing his match figures to an impressive 75 for 10. This performance prompted the England selectors to name him in the first squad of the summer. Although Jon missed out this time, his current form will surely see him in the starting England line up soon.
Peter Barker, Thule Marketing Manager, who presented Jon with his award on Friday (May 12th), commented: “This is our first player of the month award this season, and we are delighted that Jon has demonstrated right from the word go, that he is determined to be picked for England’s starting line-up this year.” |
