Phil Weston is off to an excellent start this season by winning the first Thule Player of the Month Award at Gloucestershire Cricket Club, presented to the player who exceeds himself. His outstanding batting performance over April made him the obvious choice for the club. He averaged 80 runs a game, maintaining the clubs reputation as a breeding ground for champions.
Weston has started up where he left last season – when he won the Thule Champagne Moment for his heroic unbeaten century in the C&G Trophy final.
Gloucestershire won their sixth Lord's final in as many years as they brushed Worcestershire aside by eight wickets in the C&G Trophy. Phil overshadowed Vikram Solanki's ton with an unbeaten 110 as Gloucester chased 237 with 37 balls left.
