This year, Thule sponsors kite sport’s biggest event - The National Freestyle Championships 2006 Freestyle Buggy and Board Series. The competition is made up of five rounds, and sees the UK’s biggest names in power kiting come together to defy gravity to the extreme. Thousands of thrill-seeking spectators travel all over the UK for the five two-day events that are packed with extreme kite sports, live bands, DJs, seminars, demonstrations as well as a huge kite village where they can see, try and buy from the world’s leading extreme sports retailers.

Thule’s guide to Power Kiting

Power Kiting is one of the fastest growing sports in the world today. Power kiting is an extreme form of kiting, where the kites are so strong that they can pull you along in a buggy, on a surf board or land board for serious adrenaline highs.

Kite Surfing is the fastest growing water sport in the world  It is not wind surfing, it is not wakeboarding, it is not surfing, it is not kite flying. It is the fusion of these disciplines with other influences to create the wildest new water sport for years.  Popularised by French and Hawaiian stars in early 1999. The UK scene is now growing from a small group of about 12 kite surfers at the beginning of 1999 to approx 7,000 kite surfers here in the UK.

Kite Landboarding has all the thrills of kite surfing without getting your feet wet. This fast-moving, fast-growing sport brings together the best elements of skate, snow, downhill mountain boarding and power kiting to make one of the most exhilarating experiences around.

Kite Buggying is an extreme sport that has evolved from sailing, land yachting and kite. Blasting along on three wheels, with such a low centre of gravity - just a couple of inches between the earth and your backside – it is easy to achieve super-high speeds and perform freestyle tricks. Buggying is one of the most accessible kite sports, as it is suitable for a wide age group and is still growing in popularity after at least 10 years.
